Sleaford
An active Market Town, 19 miles south of
Lincoln, with a population of around 14,000, many fine buildings, thrice
weekly Markets and a Monthly Farmers Market. St Denys’ Church, famous for
its stained glass and traceried windows, stands in the market place. The
town’s shopping centre has an increasing range of national and independent
retailers and a growing evening economy.
Excellent education
facilities with two new primary schools recently opened and all three
secondary schools having achieved specialist college status.
Leisure facilities
include Sleaford Leisure Centre and Sports Hall, plus the Playhouse Theatre. The Hub
– regional Centre for Contemporary Craft opened October 2003. The town
hosts a full programme of community and tourism events throughout the year.
Another exciting development in the near future is the restoration of the Slea Navigation to full navigability, as part of the Lincolnshire Waterways
Project.
Sleaford Pride SRB
Regeneration project started in the mid-1990s and led to the major
refurbishment of the shopping area and many old buildings converted to new
use (flats, shops, education, leisure).
Well-established road
links to major cities in East Anglia and easy access to the A1.
